Sleeping Bag Drive Fall 2022
Boy Scout Troop 880 is joining our host, Wapping Community Church, to seek donations of sleeping bags to benefit “Support Hartford’s Homeless” under the direction of Hartford Police Officer Jim Barrett. If possible, please make your purchase and arrange delivery by November 20, 2022.
According to Officer Barrett there are over 150 homeless individuals that are sleeping on the streets of Hartford while they wait for a bed to open in the overcrowded homeless shelters. Therefore, the need for sleeping bags is immediate and urgent.
So how can you help? The answer is quite simple, share this request with friends and family and find a way to purchase the sleeping bag that Officer Barrett has recommended to us. The best option is to buy it on Amazon.
The Bag – “4 Seasons Warm Cold Weather Lightweight…by SOULOUT” on Amazon in “Sports & Outdoors.” Focus on colors including Grey, Camo, Black and Army Green. Current Price is about $32 (it is on sale on Amazon) and we’d like to buy at least 100 bags.
Deadline – Bags are always in need, however we’d like to have as many delivered as possible by November 11, 2022.
Delivery Options:
Option 1 – Mail directly to Wapping Community Church at Troop 880, c/o Wapping Community Church, 1790 Ellington Road, South Windsor, CT 06074.
Option 2 – Purchase and drop-off to Wapping Community Church.
Option 3 – Purchase and coordinate delivery with Troop Committee Chair, Eric Thompson. Eric’s email is ebot1984@gmail.com.
